Music theory lessons in Ottawa are designed for musicians who wish to expand their knowledge of music theory. The course is an introduction to the fundamentals of music; namely basic recognition of the keyboard, time values, reading music notation, chords and scales, ear training and generally understanding the musical language. This is a good preparatory theory course which complements information typically learned in the early years of taking up an instrument. As there is little time during private lessons to cover all theoretical concepts, this course is a nice addition to the private study of any instrument.
There are two course types offered; one designed for adults and another for children. We offer several levels of theory courses to help everyone expand their knowledge of music. For those desiring to read music, lessons in “basic rudiments of music” are offered. For those who can read music, a series of more advanced lessons covering all aspects of music theory are offered.
